An event-driven image processing pipeline leveraging Spring Boot and AWS Lambda. The architecture decouples high-throughput ingestion from CPU-intensive processing using SNS/SQS buffering. It features a REST API for uploads, asynchronous Lambda functions for image transformations (resizing, watermarking), and uses S3 for storage and DynamoDB for metadata. The system includes end-to-end distributed tracing with OpenTelemetry and Grafana for observability, allowing visibility across microservices. Infrastructure is managed via Terraform and supports local development with LocalStack.

Awarded Second Place at the YVR Vancouver Airport Hackathon 2024 for developing an innovative and sustainable lighting solution. Our team created a computer vision-based bulb detection system using YOLO to identify and monitor airport lighting infrastructure. The system intelligently manages lighting to minimize unnecessary energy usage without impacting airport operations. Built with Java SpringBoot backend, the solution processes detection requests, manages lighting system states, and provides detailed performance and efficiency reports. This project demonstrates the potential for AI-driven sustainability improvements in large-scale infrastructure.

This system allows for the creation of a building with a specified number of floors, elevators, and a maximum occupancy limit. The system processes elevator requests and manages the state of the system. It also provides detailed reports on the state of the building and the elevators.
