Awarded Second Place at the YVR Vancouver Airport Hackathon 2024 for developing an innovative and sustainable lighting solution. Our team created a computer vision-based bulb detection system using YOLO to identify and monitor airport lighting infrastructure. The system intelligently manages lighting to minimize unnecessary energy usage without impacting airport operations. Built with Java SpringBoot backend, the solution processes detection requests, manages lighting system states, and provides detailed performance and efficiency reports. This project demonstrates the potential for AI-driven sustainability improvements in large-scale infrastructure.
